Her Musings

Finishing Strong

As the year draws to a close, the infamous year end fatigue kicks in. The weight of chasing deadlines, making decisions and implementing them now feels heavy. Waking up in the morning suddenly seems harder, days are unbearably long and the high temperatures don’t help either.

Still, in all that weariness, so much still demands to be done. The work never stops and that can be daunting.

So, I pose a question to you; what does finishing strong look like? Is it persistently pushing to make sure you cross the finish line, albeit exhausted? Or is it getting the work done gradually, taking breaks in-between until you are done so you reach the finish line in one piece?

We’ve become so accustomed to glorifying endurance and productivity, forgetting that sometimes true success is in working smart, not working extremely hard until you burn out.

It’s important to know when to slow down and take a moment to breathe. Finishing strong shouldn’t equate to burning out. Finishing strong can be done intentionally, gracefully and peacefully. This doesn’t necessarily mean everything is perfect.

So, as we wrap up the year, allow yourself to rest in the midst of the hustle. Celebrate what you managed to achieve thus far and believe that there is still time to achieve what you haven’t been able to achieve up to this point.

Finish strong, but do it well.
